The WMU Ministry of WRBC exists as a mission organization for women to participate, educate, and cooperate in mission efforts locally, nationally and internationally. The WMU @ WRBC has a long standing history of serving the church and the community in many different ways.
Women 18 years of age and older are invited to join us as we respond to God’s call to mission service.
Mission Groups
Westport Road has three groups that meet various needs and interests. For more information, contact the church office @ 425-2350. We look forward to seeing you!
Sister Chicks Serving Christ—This young women's group meets the 2nd Saturday of the month at 7 pm. Facilitator is Paula Felts.
The Seekers group meets on the second Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM at members' homes. Facilitator is Carolyn Schreiner.
The Kirk group meets on the second Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the church.Facilitators are Liz Sadler and Peggy Fuller.
The Tuesday night group meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM at members' homes. The facilitator is Mary Jo Kennedy.
Mission Activities
The WMU ministry involves itself in a variety of mission activities throughout the city of Louisville. In the course of the year the WMU will be involved in several special offerings focused exclusively on providing funds for missionaries locally, nationally and internationally.

The Racetrack Ministry at Churchill Downs provides a meal once a year for the workers on the backside following their Monday night service, Christmas gifts for the workers and cakes for the children’s cakewalk at their annual picnic.
The Pines @ Springhurst Nursing Home Ministry provides members an opportunity to engage the residents on the fourth Tuesday of each month in games and awarding prizes to the residents.
Snacks for Baptist Hospital members provide snacks to the local hospital.
University of Louisville BCM Lunch, once a year our WMU provides students at the campus of U of L with lunch.
Preemie Gowns ladies throughout the year sew gowns and blankets that are donated to the local hospitals to clothe premature babies. The Ministry Contact for Preemie gowns is Jo Tolle, 502.426.7413.
Scrapbooking as an opportunity for women to fellowship and create lasting memories scrapbookers meet the 2nd Saturday of every month from 9 am—3 pm in S-242. The Minstry Contact for scrapbooking is Elsie Martin, 502.426.0641.
Prison Ministry, four times a year women travel to the Kentucky Correctional Institute for Women to work on a craft project with women and to engage them in conversation, build relationships and support them during their time of incarceration. The Ministry Contact for the Prison Ministry is Carol Russ, 502.244.6607.
Operation Christmas Child. Each year this outreach project puts together shoeboxes to be spent around the world. Starting in August, a variety of items are collected and prepared for shipping in November. Items included are gender appropriate and range from candy to pencils, and notebooks. Angel Tree Ministry provides Christmas gifts for children of parents who are incarcerated. Gifts are age and gender appropriate and come with a Christmas greeting from the parent. Volunteers donate items during November and in early December WRBC holds an Angel Tree party at the church where the families can pick up their gifts, enjoy lunch, and meet the volunteers who helped to make their Christmas a little brighter.www.angeltree.org/angeltree-home
