So in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to the others.
Romans 12:5
The Westport Road Baptist Church Deacon body serves by conducting the caring ministry of the church-doing benevolent work, visiting the sick, being alert to the needs of the congregation. Our deacons serve on one of four teams to meet the needs of our church family.
Connection Team
This team strives to ensure each new member has that same experience by welcoming them, assisting them in finding fellowship with a small group and finding a place to serve within the church body. They work to welcome, integrate and follow-up with all new church members. Team members include:
Mike Barley, Mike Howser, Philip Becker, Bob Higgins, and Lisa Howser
Helping Hands Team
This team serves to meet the special needs of church members. The Helping Hands team is equipped in knowing the special skills and talents of willing church members to provide transportation, lawn care, and home repair, to provide food or help needed during an illness. Team members include:
Dan Echternach, Tony Booth, Scott Roby, David Taylor, Doug Beaty, and Dick Bierman
Hope Team
In times of great need; a hand to hold, a hug, a warm meal, a word of encouragement or of sympathy buoys us. This team serves church members experiencing stays in the hospital or rehabilitation centers. They also serve those families in times of bereavement. Team members include:
Regina Cook-Pfeiffer, Dennis Anderson, Lucille Anderson, Margaret Blain, Ted Boehm, Peggy Fuller, and Carwin Walker
Extended Arms Team
For our members unable to attend Sunday services –those in nursing homes and our shut-ins, this team reaches out to provide communion and deliver sermon CD’s. This team ensures that these members are cared for by their church family and visit regularly. Team members include:
Sandy Baker, Tom Haile, Ernie Cash, Ralph Hopkins, Billy Alexander, and Tony Leshon
