At 9:30 am, our Contemporary worship service meets in the sanctuary. Progressive in nature, this worship experience is distinctive in its mix of current, band-led music. At its core is sound Biblical preaching. Video illustrations and other artistic and interactive elements are frequent.
At 11:00 am, our Traditional worship service meets in the sanctuary. This worship service includes hymns, traditional choir anthems and instrumentals featuring the organ and piano. Songs from solo vocalists or vocal ensembles are shared weekly as well as meaningful instrumental offerings from the Churchestra and Handbell Choir almost monthly.
The Praise Band & Team, Drama Team, Victory Choir, Praise Choir, Worship Team (mixed vocal ensemble) Westport Boys (southern gospel men’s ensemble), Marvelous Grace (ladies vocal ensemble), Senior Adult Choir, Churchestra, Handbell Choir and Tech Team provide opportunities for participants use their gifts in leading and supporting worship in diverse ways reflective of God’s unlimited creativity.
Special and seasonal music and worship ministries and events such as Preschool Music, the Children’s Choir and annual Children’s Music Camp, community Christmas Handbell Choir concerts, and coffeehouses serve to nurture God’s artistry in His followers and to share the good news of a loving God.
This choir sings on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month during our 11:00 Traditional worship service. This choir sings traditional choir anthems and rehearses Wednesday evenings from 7:30-8:15 p.m. Any adult or teenager is invited to participate. Senior Adult Choir
During the spring and fall months, the Senior Adult Choir rehearses on the 1st Tuesday morning at 11:00, prior to the senior adult luncheon, and sings in the 11:00 Traditional Worship service on the 3rd Sunday of the odd months. The Handbell Choir rehearses on Sunday evenings through the school year and participates on occasion in our 11:00 AM Traditional Worship Service. This ensemble has the opportunity to go into the community to play at Oxmoor Center, Mall St. Matthews and senior care facilities. We also participate in a yearly Handbell festival. This is a group of string, wind, and percussion players with a heart for leading worship. They usually rehearse at 6:45PM on the 1st and 3rd Sunday evenings of each month and play in the 11:00 AM service on the 4th Sunday. Membership is open to anyone who plays and can provide their own instrument. This team provides audio/visual support for Sunday worship services, special and seasonal worship experiences, rehearsals, and special events.
