What should I wear?
Please know that we are much more interested in you encountering Christ at WRBC than we are with whether you are wearing jeans and a t-shirt or a shirt and a tie. In general though, it would be more likely for you to see other people wearing jeans in our 9:30 a.m. contemporary service. Likewise you would be more likely to encounter others dressing up a little more during our 10:45 a.m. traditional service. But again, you can wear either attire to either service because YOU are more important to us than what you are wearing.
How long will it last?
Sunday morning worship usually lasts less than 1 hour and 15 minutes. The 9:30 a.m. service is usually ends between 10:30 and 10:40 a.m. and the 10:45 a.m. service usually ends between 11:50 and noon.
Is there anything going on for my kids and teenagers?
Absolutely! There are usually separate activities for children and teens occurring at the same time there are services for adults. For example, on Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and Wednesday evenings there are services and Bible Studies for adults, as well as childcare for infants and activities for children and teens. To learn more details regarding specific activities for children and teens, please go to the children and student pages.
What’s the difference between a contemporary and traditional worship?
The differences associated with these two styles of worship deal primarily with the style of music in each service. In our contemporary service, a praise band and praise team lead choruses.
Some examples of choruses that might be sung include “Beautiful One”, “Jesus Messiah” or “Friend of God”. In our traditional service, our music director typically leads the congregation in singing hymns such as “Amazing Grace” or “Because He Lives”.
How do I find my way around on Sunday morning?
When you walk into our building on Sunday morning, you will be greeted at the door by individuals ready to make your visit a great one. They will direct you to an area called “Guest Services” at the center of our Rotunda. A volunteer at this area can help you locate a class for you and your family as well as point you to the worship area for one of our two worship times. Volunteers will assist you to classrooms if you desire. Many of your questions can be answered by these volunteers or through the guest literature provided for you and your family.
Does your church provide counseling?
Yes. Our church provides pastoral counseling for anyone. Our counselors keep various hours at the church and provide counseling for a variety of concerns.
How do I become a member of the church?
There are three different ways for you to join our church.
First, you may join by professing faith in Jesus Christ and following Him in baptism. Our pastor would be glad to talk with you if you are interesting in doing this, but don’t understand exactly what it all means.
Secondly, you may transfer your membership from another Southern Baptist Church. This means that your membership is currently with another Southern Baptist Church and you would like to affiliate with WRBC. Just inform a minister of this desire and we will do the rest.
Also, you may join as a believer from another church on the testimony of your faith experience in Christ and your baptism by immersion. In joining this way, you would be joining by the statement of your faith.
If you are not sure which way you should join, please feel free to speak to our pastor, Chip Pendleton regarding your desire and he will help you with the rest!
Which doors should I enter if I want to attend a worship service on Sunday mornings?
If you enter our parking lot from Hurstbourne Parkway you will see our steeple. To the left of the steeple is a large glass window. There are glass entrances you may enter on either side of this window. If you enter in these doors you will see “Guest Services” directly in front of you. The sanctuary entrances are to the right of the welcome center, but please remember if you have any other questions the volunteers at Guest Services are there to assist you!
