Notes:

Independence Day
“Dual Citizenship”
John 18

I. Being a Christian is not the same as being an American, although some confuse the two.  18:28-32

II. Christians are citizens of two kingdoms.

 A.  We are citizens of the nation in which we live and we have a responsibility to that kingdom.  18:32-36

1.  To be active in the process.
2.  To support and encourage.
3.  To be informed.
4.  To be a positive example.

 B.  We are citizens of God’s eternal kingdom.  18:37-38.

1.  God’s kingdom is not of this world.
2.  Different priorities and purposes.

III. The priorities and purposes of the two kingdoms can sometimes come into conflict.  19:1-7, 12-16.

Our priority as a child of God is greater than any other commitment in our life.
