In Mark 10:17-31, a wealthy man asks Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life. Jesus lovingly reveals that the man’s wealth holds his heart, then calls him to let it go and follow. The passage shows that salvation is impossible by human effort, but possible with God and that following Jesus is worth surrendering everything.
